The full-time whistle at the end of Barcelona’s game against Girona on Saturday night could be the trigger of endless celebrations in the Spanish capital.

After all, Real Madrid face Cadiz earlier in the day, and should Los Blancos win and the Blaugrana drop points, Carlo Ancelotti’s side will officially be crowned the new La Liga champions.

Far from celebratory

Despite the title being at their doorstep, the Real Madrid dressing room is far from a mood of celebration as they focus on the UEFA Champions League clash next week.

Carlo Ancelotti, thus, sees the game against Cadiz as a chance to rest his best players and keep them ready for the gruelling European battle that awaits.

According to journalist Melchor Ruiz, the manager could make up to ten changes to the XI that started against Bayern Munich midweek and virtually every fringe player will have his chance to prove his worth to the manager.

Possible rotations

In a breaking update, Thibaut Courtois is set to make his first appearance of the season tomorrow and will take over in goal after overcoming two painful injuries.

As was the case against Real Sociedad, Nacho Fernandez and Eder Militao could take over in central defence with the backup full-backs, Fran Garcia and Lucas Vazquez, also getting starts.

Luka Modric could start alongside Eduardo Camavinga and Dani Ceballos in midfield with Arda Guler occupying the apex of the diamond as the attacking midfielder.

The final two places on the field will likely be taken by Joselu and Brahim Diaz. Needless to say, Real Madrid’s fringe XI is no walkover and could well win the title for the team against Cadiz.
