Dani Ceballos continues to live in a state of uncertainty, but Real Madrid may be the ones to benefit from the indecision.
According to reports from Alvaro Estebas, the midfielder was particularly sharp in training today, showing the sort of intensity and focus that would please Xabi Alonso.
As such, for the moment, everything suggests that Ceballos will remain in Madrid, unless Real Betis finally decide to step forward with an offer.
The story of his summer has been anything but straightforward. At one point, Ceballos was on the verge of joining Olympique de Marseille.
An agreement between clubs had been reached, and the move seemed inevitable. Yet the midfielder pulled the plug at the last moment, driven by the hope that Betis, the club of his heart, would return for him.

Ceballos’ affection for Betis is no secret. He has never hidden his desire to join the La Liga club, but love and loyalty are not enough to complete the transfer.
Betis simply cannot reach Madrid’s asking price, which stands at around €15 million. That figure, though reasonable by top-flight standards, represents a challenge for a club with Betis’ resources.
Unless Madrid agree to negotiate a discount, the reunion that both sides desire may remain out of reach.
From Madrid’s perspective, the situation is not entirely negative. Ceballos still has a contract until 2027, and Xabi Alonso may see value in keeping him as part of the squad.
At 29, the midfielder offers La Liga experience, technical quality, and the ability to control the tempo of a match.
While he may not be a guaranteed starter, his presence adds depth in a season where rotation will be essential.
