Bayern Munich have issued a clear warning to potential suitors, including Manchester City, over the availability of star playmaker Jamal Musiala ahead of the summer.

The 21-year-old is widely expected to become one of the most in-demand names in the European transfer market, whether that be in the upcoming summer window, or further down the line after greater development at Bayern Munich.

Musiala made the move to Germany as a 16-year-old following a rise at Chelsea’s esteemed youth academy between the years of 2011 and 2019, quickly becoming one of the most exciting stars at the Allianz Arena club.

Now, after over 160 appearances and 43 goals coupled with 30 assists for Bayern Munich, several of Europe’s key clubs are looking to capitalise on an ever-growing contract situation that could concern officials at the Bundesliga giants – including Manchester City.

The Premier League giants are expected to be in the market for a new big name in the playmaker positions of Pep Guardiola’s side, and while they hold admiration in Jamal Musiala, they have been handed an early blow in their pursuit of the talent.

That is according to the information of Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, who reports that Jamal Musiala is ‘definitely not for sale’ in the summer, with Bayern Munich chief Max Eberl ‘not even considering any offers’ from interested parties.

With the aforementioned stance being taken after an agreement among all Bayern Munich bosses, the Allianz Arena club have placed no price tag on the 21-year-old, who is described as being the ‘focal point’ of the German giants for the future.

Bayern are claimed to retain their interest in extending Musiala’s contract beyond 2026 ‘very soon’, according to Sky Germany, while what is of importance to the player is said to include factors such as ‘how the club will be structured in the future’, and ‘who the coach will be’.

Regardless of the stance taken by the Bavarian club, Plettenberg reports that Jamal Musiala is ‘on the list of all top teams’, including the reigning Premier League champions Manchester City.

City are unlikely to be immediately put off by the initial stance taken by Bayern Munich ahead of the opening of the summer transfer window, although officials within the Etihad Stadium offices do have other options on their early shortlist.

West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta remains a player of interest despite issues concerning the Brazilian and an ongoing Football Association investigation into betting allegations, while Florian Wirtz is a name that could be explored in the coming years.

Manchester City are also expected to look at recruits in other areas of the pitch, with the forward line also set to be addressed, while the club would not be opposed to reinforcements in the full-back positions either.
