Brentford loanee Ryan Trevitt was involved as Exeter City were denied a late winner at Lincoln City on Saturday afternoon.

The Grecians thought they had snatched the three points in stoppage time but referee Declan Bourne ruled out Jack McMillan's effort as the League One fixture ended goalless.

With the full-time whistle approaching, the ball dropped to Trevitt on the edge of the Lincoln box, with the 22-year-old sending a vicious strike towards goal.

His drive hit Angus MacDonald in the middle of the area, with the officials deeming the ball to have touched the defender's hand before McMillan swept it into the far corner of the goal.

Exeter manager Gary Caldwell was sent off in the ensuing protests.

Despite wanting more, the match made it a fourth clean sheet in five and stretched the Grecians' unbeaten run to six games.

Tony Yogane was an unused substitute for the Devon outfit, who sit 16th in League One, nine points above the relegation zone, ahead of Saturday's game at Wrexham at St James Park.

In League Two, Val Adedokun and Ashley Hay both featured as Cheltenham Town lost 1-0 at home to Milton Keynes Dons.

Jack Sanders scored the only goal of the game early on, with Adedokun playing 65 minutes for the Robins and Hay being utilised as a second-half substitute.

Elsewhere in the fourth tier, Michael Olakigbe played just under an hour of Chesterfield's goalless home draw against Harrogate Town.

The winger replaced Janoi Donacien on 37 minutes and put in a lively display, delivering a number of dangerous balls into the box and also seeing an effort of his own blocked in a goalmouth scramble.

The only other Brentford loanee in action over the international break was Ben Winterbottom.

The goalkeeper kept a clean sheet as AFC Fylde stunned Forest Green Rovers, defeating the National League promotion-chasers 3-0.

Will Hugill, Harry Davis and Nick Haughton were on target as the home side gave their survival hopes a big boost, having moved to within a point of safety.
