Captained by Brentford defender Nathan Collins, Republic of Ireland retained their place in Nations League B with a 2-1 win over Bulgaria in the play-off second leg at Aviva Stadium on Sunday.

Leading 2-1 from the first leg in Plovdiv, Ireland fell behind on 30 minutes to Valentin Antov’s goal. But Evan Ferguson and Adam Idah were on the scoresheet after the break as Heimir Hallgrimsson's side made it back-to-back victories for the first time since March 2023.
