Brentford Under-21s lost 8-1 at Bournemouth in the Professional Development League on Tuesday afternoon.

The defeat ended the side's four-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

It was an even start as both teams had spells of possession without testing the goalkeepers.

The deadlock was broken though on 14 minutes as Max Dickov played a great through ball for Ben Krauhaus and the latter calmly slid his finish under the keeper to put the Bees in front.

Following the goal, the home side were in the ascendancy as they penned Brentford back inside their half.

Daniel Adu-Adjei missed a big chance to level proceedings as he skied over from six yards out before, at the other end, Dickov saw a well-struck effort fly just over the bar.

The west Londoners wrestled back some control in the game and Chanse Headman was next to go close as his towering header went inches over the crossbar.

The Cherries equalised early in the second period as Ben Winterburn smashed into the top corner from distance and two minutes later, Adu-Adjei's quick turn and finish gave the hosts the advantage.

Dom Sadi reacted quickest to a loose ball to add a third, before Adu-Adjei netted twice more to compete his hat-trick.

Kian Tydeman got on the end of a cross as Bournemouth scored another, with his fellow substitute Jonny Day then making it 7-1.

Tydeman grabbed his second from the penalty spot to complete the scoring late on.

Attention now turns to the Premier League Cup as Brentford B take on Nottingham Forest on Friday evening in the quarter-finals.
