Kylian Mbappe gives update on injury status and when he will first play for Real Madrid | OneFootball

Real Madrid presented Kylian Mbappe to a packed out crowd on Tuesday, with a rumoured 80-85,000 people there to witness it. He told the fans that he had fulfilled a childhood dream by joining Los Blancos, while President Florentino Perez thanked him for ‘making an effort that most can’t even imagine’ to head to Real Madrid.

Mbappe was reluctant to give details on his decision to stay at Paris Saint-Germain instead of signing for Real Madrid two years ago, but looking ahead to his career, said he was not concerned over where he would be playing for Carlo Ancelotti.

In terms of the when, he was more concrete. Mbappe is due to go on holiday now, but also may require surgery for his broken nose.

“I am in contact with the doctors and they will tell me when I return from my holiday,” he told the press.

He was already in contact with fitness coach Antonio Pintus over his conditioning. Los Blancos will likely be on their preseason tour to the USA, and it is not yet clear whether he will join them, although the prospect of him playing a Clasico one will be an enticing one.

“We have already spoken with Pintus to design a preseason programme. It’s going to be a long season, we need special preparation.”

Asked more specifically about a nose operation again, he assured that he would be ready to compete for the first of seven trophies on the table for Real Madrid this season.

“I spoke with the doctors and we will see what we will do and I will surely play in the Super Cup, but it depends on the coach. “I’m going to work to be ready.”

Real Madrid will take on Atalanta in the European Supercup on the 14th of August in Warsaw, Poland. Having had confirmation that Mbappe is aiming to be available for it, his debut is likely less than a month away. That would be his first competitive outing in a Real Madrid shirt, with a trip to RCD Mallorca coming four days later.
