Interim Rangers chairman John Gilligan has confirmed there will be no takeover after announcing the board and shareholders have no intention of selling to ‘one man’ but are open to major investment parties of ‘the right people’.

Speaking at his maiden press conference for the new position he occupies, the former Three Bears member who was part of 2015’s ‘takeover’ confirmed that the current bodies in place have no intention of selling up, and the only interest there is in outside investment from the right groups of people.

He said:

“Current investors are prepared to do that (invest). We are open to new approaches but it has to be right people and not one owner.”

AKA forget your rich American billionaire or Russian oil magnate or even the drivel from the likes of Keith Wyness about Far Eastern takeovers, the only thing that will happen would be a new hedge or investment fund coming in with capital to invest in shares and the club.

As Ibrox Noise has explained ad-nauseum, a single party can’t just take over, because they would need all the existing groups to sell, and that isn’t happening.

And Gilligan is now confirming all existing groups in Rangers are sticking around, not selling, and would only be open to other groups coming in and offering further capital.

In other words, outside investors and new shareholders, but no new ownership.

Fans haven’t reacted best pleased to this news it must be said, some were naively hoping Dave King would ride in on his white horse to save the day.

Others were hoping for a massive supermillions takeover.

None of these are going to happen.

And that’s all there really is to it.
