Rangers’ interest in David Brooks has begun to pick up pace as the club continues its aggressive summer transfer strategy. The Ibrox side are believed to be monitoring the situation closely and could make a move for the £10M-rated winger in the coming days. With almost 90 Premier League appearances under his belt and international honours with Wales Brooks would be one of the more high profile arrivals this window. Rangers’ interest in David Brooks shows no signs of being speculative and with a loan move the most likely outcome the Light Blues are firmly in the running.
The 26-year-old has just one year left on his current contract and although Bournemouth have yet to commit to a renewal there are no clear signs they want to sell permanently either. That opens the door for a short-term switch and Rangers are very much exploring that possibility. Brooks is a natural right winger a position that manager Russell Martin is believed to be actively looking to strengthen following the departures and loans of several fringe wide players. The Welshman has pedigree at the highest level and while his form has been inconsistent due to illness and injury there is no questioning the quality he possesses when fully fit.
He has also said a willing yes:
If he wants to, I’m open to it!
“His style of play and the way he is as a guy, I think he’s an extremely good manager and he’s going to do great things. If he wants to take me wherever he ends up, then he can do.”
A loan deal would suit all parties. Rangers get a top-level attacking option without a major outlay Bournemouth retain an asset with resale value and Brooks gets the chance to play regularly in a competitive environment. There is risk of course given his recent record but Rangers’ interest in David Brooks remains strong and it would be yet another signal of intent from a club aiming to reclaim domestic dominance and go deeper in Europe. With his ability to cut inside and shoot or deliver a cross Brooks is exactly the sort of flair player Ibrox has lacked in recent times.
Whether the deal happens will depend on a number of factors including Bournemouth’s willingness to negotiate and the player’s own view on a move to Scotland. But Rangers’ interest in David Brooks is real and with the market moving quickly this one could develop soon. For now it is another exciting link in a transfer window that is starting to feel genuinely ambitious from the Ibrox giants.
