FC Bayern has passed the momentous milestone of 300,000 paid-up members, further cementing its status as the sports club with the biggest membership in the world. Ahead of the home match against Union Berlin, president Herbert Hainer together with his vice-presidents Professor Dr. Dieter Mayer and Walter Mennekes honoured Isabelle Gütlein on the Allianz Arena pitch as the 300,000th member of the German record champions. The Munich resident received a shirt signed by the whole team with the historic number 300,000 on the back. FC Bayern celebrates its 123rd birthday on Monday 27 February.

Herbert Hainer, president: “300,000 members – that’s an unmatched figure worldwide, and we as FC Bayern can be very proud of it. It cements our position as the sports club with the most members. The FC Bayern family is growing, which pleases us because everything here revolves around our members and fans. Thank you to all for this great support. FC Bayern always takes records as an incentive to never let up.”

One of the things that is special about FC Bayern compared to other clubs around the world is the annual allocation of a new membership number: the lower it is, the longer the individual’s club membership. Heiner Jüngling, the current member number 1, joined FCB back in 1939.
