Chelsea target Alejandro Garnacho is ready to leave Manchester United and will cost around £40 million (The Mirror).
Garnacho is ready to leave United after falling out of favour with Ruben Amorim, and Chelsea have a long-standing interest in him.
Chelsea are in the market for attacking reinforcements. After snapping up Liam Delap from Ipswich Town for £30m, the Blues are now keen to sign a left winger.
Several players are on Chelsea’s extensive shortlist, including Olympique Lyon’s Malick Fofana and wantaway Borussia Dortmund ace Jamie Gittens.
But Garnacho is also firmly on their shortlist. Chelsea believe Garnacho has plenty of potential and can develop into a well-rounded winger.
The 20-year-old has played nearly 150 games for United. He is a raw talent, but the Blues believe he’s not far off from becoming an established forward.
Garnacho featured 58 times for United last season, returning 11 goals and 10 assists. He also hit double figures in goals the previous season, netting 10 times in 50 games across all competitions.
The Argentine has three years left on his contract with United, but a fresh start away from the Theatre of Dreams looks to be the most likely outcome.
United had initially slapped a £70m price tag on Garnacho, but it’s unlikely that their valuation will be met with the club desperate to get rid of him.
A more acceptable fee would be around £40m, and that will go a long way in getting the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) off United’s back for this summer.
Garnacho could be a cost-effective solution to Chelsea’s search for a left winger. The Blues are still in talks to sign Gittens, but Dortmund’s £50m demand has forced them to consider other options.
United are also interested in Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku. A potential swap deal has been explored, but it is unclear if there is any substance to that speculation.
