According to the Express, the Seagulls are looking to secure a temporary exit for their January signing, which has attracted attention from clubs in the Championship and Bundesliga.

The defender had been an ever-present in Derby County’s backline over the past few seasons, and consistent performances convinced the Premier League outfit to outlay a reported £9 million for his signature.

Despite playing just twice for Brighton, Cashin has previously proven his ability in the second-tier and would be a great addition for a number of clubs this summer.

With the Irishman set to leave the AMEX Stadium, Football League World have highlighted THREE Championship outfits that should be vying for his services.

Derby County

Derby are the obvious option for Cashin’s Championship return, due to his recent history with the club.

John Eustace joined a month after the 23-year-old’s exit, but would no doubt love to attain his services for next season.

The centre-half would be returning to familiar territory, which could help him get back on track after failing to make an impact at Brighton.

Derby need to recruit in defensive areas, having released defenders Sonny Bradley and Erik Pieters, while Nat Phillips has returned to Liverpool following his loan.

However, the deal would hang upon whether Cashin is aiming to play in a more competitive outfit.

Although Eustace guided the Rams to safety and dramatically improved their performances, it’s unlikely that Derby will fight toward the top six next term.

Therefore, with reported interest from the Bundesliga, Derby may have to play upon their successful past with Cashin to secure his services for next season.

Norwich City

Exciting times are on the horizon for Norwich City, after appointing Liam Manning as their new manager.

Securing the signing of Harry Darling was a brilliant piece of business and pursuing a loan deal for Cashin could be the next step in an ambitious summer.

If Manning looks to continue setting up with three central defenders at Carrow Road, having the outgoing Brighton man as an option could take their backline to the next level, putting him alongside Darling and Panama international Jose Cordoba.

The Canaries conceded 68 goals last season, marking their defence as the sixth worst in the Championship. Therefore, improvements are desperately needed.

Norwich have Premier League ambitions and will be aiming to fight for promotion under Manning next term. If they can manage to keep hold of Borja Sainz or Josh Sargent and add a defender like Cashin to their ranks, it would go a long way to achieving that goal.

The Norfolk outfit may be able to provide Brighton with a more competitive financial package for the Irishman’s services, which could put them ahead of the likes of Derby in the race for Cashin.

Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough are another club with a new face in the home dugout next term, with Rob Edwards expected to be appointed as Michael Carrick replacement.

Boro spent heavily last season but didn’t put their purchasing power to good use, ultimately finishing 10th and four points wide of the play-offs.

The North East outfit didn’t have a consistent defensive unit last term due to a lot of injuries - Darragh Lenihan didn't end up returning to the pitch from his long-term achilles issues, whilst Rav van den Berg, Dael Fry and George Edmundson all spending time on the sidelines too.

Edwards knows what it takes to achieve promotion from the Championship and will be motivated to return to winning ways after a devastating end to his time with Luton Town.
