Bees embark on new dawn post-Thomas Frank this weekend
Keith Andrews says Caoimhin Kelleher and Kevin Schade will be assessed in the lead-up to Brentford's opening Premier League game against Nottingham Forest.
The Bees' head coach has confirmed that goalkeeper Kelleher and forward Schade are both back in training, but said he was uncertain whether they would be available for selection.
Kelleher, who joined Brentford in a £18million deal from Liverpool in June, missed Brentford's 2-2 draw with Borussia Monchengladbach last Friday after picking up a knock in training.
Schade was also absent from Brentford's final pre-season friendly, and Andrews said it would be touch-and-go whether the pair would be ready for Sunday.
Kelleher in particular is popular on Fantasy Premier League, with the Ireland international owned by 17.5% of players.
“Caoimhin and Kevin Schade are back on the grass,” said Andrews.
“Whether they will be absolutely ready we’ll see over the next day and a half, then we’ll make that decision.
“Overall, we’re in a pretty good place on [the injury] front.”
Andrews remained less optimistic about Gustavo Nunes, who suffered a hamstring injury during Brentford's pre-season friendly with Gil Vicente in Portugal.
The Brazilian, who signed from Gremio for a fee in excess of £10m last summer, struggled with injuries in his first year in west London and now looks set for another lengthy period on the sidelines.
Janelt, who underwent surgery on his heel at the end of last season, and Maghoma will also be unavailable.
“There are a couple of ones that definitely won't be available. Gustavo [Nunes], Vitaly [Janelt] is still making his way back, [as is] Paris Maghoma.”
Striker Yoane Wissa also won't be part of Brentford's squad amid speculation around his future.
Wissa has been the subject of interest from Newcastle, and Andrews confirmed the 28-year-old was not in the right headspace to travel with the team.
Wissa missed Brentford's final two pre-season friendlies against QPR and Borussia Monchengladbach, having left the club's pre-season training camp in Portugal.
Brentford are in the market for attacking reinforcements this summer and are exploring moves for Dango Ouattara and Arnaud Kalimuendo before the window closes.
Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola admitted that he was unsure whether Ouattara would feature in the Cherries’ opener against Liverpool on Friday night amid interest from Brentford in the winger’s services.
“Dango is going to train with us today, he’s here,” Iraola said in his pre-match press conference.
“But it’s true I don’t know what’s going to happen. We’re going day to day.
“I’ll ask the club if he can play tomorrow, if he can travel – we are in this sort of situations, every team will be in these situations with players leaving, players arriving.”
