For better or worse, uncertainty about the future has been a big theme at Inter for the last few years.

A big reason for this has been the financial situation. Both of the club, and of owners Suning.

This has meant a few things.

First of all, there has been a big impact on the squad and the transfer market.

Inter have had trouble investing significantly in signings, at least without making big sales. And there have even been significant sales of players from the starting eleven.

These sacrifices have been necessary to stabilize the financial situation.

And then there have been persistent rumours about the future of owners Suning at Inter.

Firstly, there have been no shortage of rumours regarding a potential sale of the club.

And then, there have been doubts about how the Inter owners would approach the upcoming deadline of a huge loan from Oaktree Capital.

That deadline, on the twentieth of this month, would see Suning’s shares pass into the hands of Oaktree were they to default.

PIMCO & Contract Talks – Decisive Week In Future Of Inter

But now, Suning have just about sorted out their future at Inter.

The Nerazzurri owners are on the verge of taking on a massive loan from US fund PIMCO.

This loan will allow Suning to refinance their debt to Oaktree. That will therefore entail staying in control.

And with clarity about them ownership situation, Inter can really start to plan for the future on the pitch with the feeling of firm ground beneath their feet.

The first priority will be locking down the future of coach Simone Inzaghi.

There is no doubt that the 48-year-old is the man the Nerazzurri want at the helm for the foreseeable future.

Then, there will be two more big contract extensions – Nicolo Barella and Lautaro Martinez.
