Carlo Ancelotti’s time at Real Madrid appears to be coming to an end, with growing signs that he will not remain in charge beyond the current season.

In fact, as reported by SPORT, the manager’s position has been severely weakened, and continuing next season would take what many are calling a ‘miracle’.

Madrid’s elimination from the Champions League was certainly disappointing, but what really afflicted the hierarchy was the lack of competitive rhythm.

The team looked as if they ran out of ideas, and the defeat raised questions not only about the players but also about the project itself.

This has set the stage for a summer of tough decisions, which include potential exits and new signings. However, the main attention would be on the man on the bench.

Still much more to achieve

For now, while Ancelotti has had achieved a lot at Madrid, many now view him as one of the main reasons behind the team’s recent failure in Europe.

Although not all of the blame can be placed on him, there is little confidence that he is the man to lead the next chapter.

What makes the state of affairs extra severe is that critical games are yet to come.

The Copa del Rey final on April 26 and the La Liga outing against Barcelona would be decisive. If the team falls short in either of these matches, the decision to part ways may come sooner than expected.

Interest from Brazil

Adding to the speculation, an emissary from the Brazilian Football Confederation was reportedly in Madrid recently to hold talks with Ancelotti.

Brazil have made no secret of their interest in appointing him as their national team coach.

Some reports even suggest the possibility of Ancelotti leaving immediately after the Copa del Rey final, regardless of the result.

While nothing is official yet, the signs strongly point to the Italian’s departure at the end of the season. Real Madrid are already preparing for a fresh start, and Ancelotti’s time at the club could be nearing its conclusion.
