Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti on Saturday delivered a firm message to those to have questioned the club on the back of their midweek Champions League exit.

Real, of course, are fresh off an evening to forget on the continent in midweek.

After welcoming Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal to Spain’s capital for the 2nd leg of the Champions League quarter-final tie between the clubs, Los Blancos were condemned to a 2nd successive defeat at the hands of the Gunners.

Result aside, though, it was the level of performance put forth by the reigning tournament holders which gave rise to widespread criticism.

Carlo Ancelotti’s troops toiled in their efforts at both ends, looking completely bereft of a clear game plan.

Speaking to the media in his latest press conference on Saturday, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of the criticism being aimed in the direction of his side, and Real Madrid as a sporting entity, was put to the club’s headmaster.

And Ancelotti made use of the opportunity to launch a staunch defence of Los Merengues, adamant that:

“Questioning a club that has won 30 titles in 11 years is just misleading to me”.
