Former French youth international Waniss Taïbi has made it clear he wants to play for the senior Algeria national team. The Hannover 96 midfielder hasn’t hesitated to go public with his intentions.

"I’ve never really been contacted. I hope I’m on the coach’s radar. I’m interested, the door is wide open. Both my parents were born and raised in Algeria," said the 23-year-old midfielder.

The Limoges native added: "I follow every match of the Algerian national team. Playing for Algeria is a dream for me. I want to have a great career and make my family proud."

After playing for Rodez AF in France’s Ligue 2 since 2023, Waniss Taïbi made a summer switch to Hannover 96 in the 2. Bundesliga. He has previously represented France at all youth levels, from U17s up to U20s.

All eyes are now on Vladimir Petković to see if he’s interested in the former Angers man and whether he’ll call him up for the upcoming international fixtures.
