West Ham United are interested in recruiting the services of Chelsea centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo this summer, according to the Sun.

West Ham want to strengthen at the back after shipping 62 league goals in the Premier League last term, and manager Graham Potter appears to have been impressed with the Blues star.

However, the Hammers will face competition from Crystal Palace as they look to bring Adarabioyo to the London Stadium club.

Chelsea are also not keen on selling the 27-year-old after he impressed during his debut campaign at the Stamford Bridge club.

The Manchester City academy graduate, once praised by Pep Guardiola for being ‘fast’, ‘strong’ and having ‘all the quality’, signed a four-year deal after joining the Blues on a free transfer from Fulham last season.

The West Ham target played in 41 games across all competitions, weighing in with five goals and one assist.

Adarabioyo featured in 22 Premier League games, starting 15 times, and manager Enzo Maresca wants to hold on to him, with the player also happy with how things have gone at Chelsea.

However, he could become a regular and guaranteed starter at West Ham should he join the Hammers, but convincing him and Chelsea to do a deal would be tricky.

Potter has bolstered his defence by signing French centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo permanently after his successful loan spell last term, while full-backs El Hadji Malick Diouf and Kyle Walker-Peters have been snapped up too.

Adding a player with the quality and experience of Adarabioyo will be huge for West Ham, but their chances of getting a deal done are as slim as they come and they might need to look elsewhere for the top centre-back Potter craves.

Their lack of European football will also be working against them as the Chelsea defender will prefer to play some games in the Champions League next term with the Blues having not featured in the competition since December 2016.
