Fresh signing in line for first appearance
Bryan Mbeumo could make his debut for Manchester United tonight as the Red Devils take on West Ham in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Ruben Amorim’s side face Graham Potter’s Hammers in their second pre-season friendly of the summer as part of the Premier League Summer Series taking place across the United States.
United have included their three new recruits in their travelling squad - Matheus Cunha, Diego Leon and Mbeumo - and Amorim has hailed both Cunha and Mbeumo pre-match, saying that both will greatly improve his side this coming season.
The Cameroonian arrived from Brentford in an initial £65million move, and is expected to take up the right-sided No10 berth behind the lone striker in Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system.
Cunha started against Leeds in the 0-0 draw at the Strawberry Arena in Stockholm last time out, while Bruno Fernandes started in the midfield pivot alongside Casemiro, with Toby Collyer the more advanced alongside Cunha in the attacking midfield duo.
Chido Obi Martin started up top ahead of Rasmus Hojlund, although the Dane was brought on at half-time.
Stateside, United are somewhat depleted, although a lot of that is Amorim’s own doing.
He has exiled four first-team players - Jadon Sancho, Antony, Tyrell Malacia, and Alejandro Garnacho - who are all looking for a quick exit out of Old Trafford after the quartet were told that they were not part of the Portuguese’s plans.
Marcus Rashford was part of that outcast group before his loan move to Barcelona, although Amorim has said that, despite them not being part of the squad in the United States, the four players could be reintegrated into the first-team fold should no suitable offers materialise before the transfer deadline.
Injury-wise, United are missing Andre Onana and Lisandro Martinez, who have both travelled, but are unlikely to feature in any of the three matches as they recover from their respective injuries.
Joshua Zirkzee is also added to the squad after missing out on the trip to Stockholm.
Predicted Manchester United XI (3-4-2-1): Bayindir; Mazraoui, de Ligt, Yoro; Dalot, Ugarte, Fernandes, Dorgu; Mbeumo, Cunha; Hojlund
