While it was suggested that Fikayo Tomori would be interested in swapping Milan for Juventus in January, the change at the Rossoneri helm could mark a turning point for his future as he’s now reportedly willing to stay at the San Siro.

The former Chelsea centre-back seemed to have fallen out of favour under coach Paulo Fonseca, with his last Serie A start dating back to early October in his side’s 2-1 defeat at Fiorentina.

As a result, the 27-year-old’s discontent grew to the point that he was willing to leave the club, with Juventus among the interested clubs, but his prospects suddenly changed when Sergio Conceição replaced Fonseca in the last days of 2024.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Tomori feels he can return to be considered an important player under the new manager, so he would prefer to stay at Milan for at least a further six months and try to earn Conceição’s trust.

Rossoneri veterans like Mike Maignan, Theo Hernandez and Rafael Leão are also said to have asked their teammates to postpone a potential move to next summer and help the team now, prompting the defender to express his will to Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the directors.

Keeping the player would also spare Milan from going on the transfer market to sign another centre-back, also forcing Juventus to look elsewhere to reinforce their defensive department, with Feyenoord’s David Hancko on top of their target list.
