The man at the front and centre of the biggest tease ahead of the series is minority stakeholder, Tom Brady, who first became involved with Blues following the completion of Knighthead Capital Management's well-documented takeover in the summer of 2023.

Since then, the West Midlands outfit have undergone a major on and off-pitch transformation, and the series, executively produced by Steven Knight - the creator of Peaky Blinders and lifelong Bluenose - alongside the likes of Matt Alvarez and co-directors Gotham Chopra and Claudio Corbisiero, documents the club's chaotic relegation season from the Championship and last season's record-breaking campaign under Chris Davies in League One, which features major showdowns against Wrexham and a run to Wembley Stadium in the EFL Trophy.

A trailer of the upcoming five-episode series has been published on Birmingham's official social media channels, and straight away includes snippets of supporters reacting to the news that Brady had become a minority shareholder with claims of "who?" and "Tom Brady, who's he?"

"What he knows about football you could probably put on a postage stamp," the audio continued.

The name of the series has been titled: "Built in Birmingham: Brady and the Blues," and a club statement has also explained the reasoning behind the production.

"The five-part docuseries tells the authentic tale of a club accustomed to sporting heartbreak who are being rebuilt to win, with American football legend Tom Brady laying out their new mission statement: “We’re trying to make Birmingham City a world-class team.” Built in Birmingham: Brady & the Blues follows that journey, as a new ownership group suffer relegation and multiple managerial changes en route to a record-breaking season which delivered automatic promotion to the Sky Bet Championship."

"Embedded camera crews have followed the First-Team players, coaching staff and key ownership figures as the club fights to instil a winning culture and climb the English football pyramid. Beyond the day-to-day football operations, Built in Birmingham will also explore the unique cultural heritage of Birmingham City and a supporter base who have remained loyal despite a sustained period without success or silverware. The documentary will shine a spotlight on this community’s resurgence, illustrating how the football club plans to transform a city."

Those plans include leaving the club's spiritual home of St Andrew's @ Knighthead Park for a new 62,000-seater stadium a stone's throw away in Bordesley Green, which will be the very heartbeat of a Sports Quarter development which was effectively given the green-light last month after government funding for a tramline from Birmingham City Centre was confirmed, with owner Tom Wagner also hoping to have seen Blues end their Premier League exile by that time too.

Amazon Prime documentary release will only hype Birmingham City fans further ahead of Championship season

Confirmation of the documentary was given in mid-April, days before the club had wrapped up the League One title with weeks of the season to spare and what ultimately proved a bittersweet day in North London, as the chance of a double-winning campaign was passed up against Peterborough United prior to the accumulation of 111 points and 34 league wins.

The chance to relive the highs - many of them - and lows of the past two years, and the timing of being able to do so will only increase the excitement and anticipation in the blue half of the Second City, just a week before the Championship 'curtain raiser' against Ipswich Town, which has been selected for broadcast on Sky Sports.

Wagner has continued to back Davies to the hill in the transfer market, with the club confirming six new additions in the past week, including a standout £10m capture for former Celtic cult hero, Kyogo Furuhashi.

Many comparisons are likely to be made between this new series and the pre-existing Welcome to Wrexham, although Bluenoses will be hoping that a second instalment captures promotion to the top-flight sooner rather than later, and ahead of their competitors, who have developed a tongue-in-cheek boardroom rivalry due to investment from Hollywood stars, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
