Chelsea will opt against signing Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho permanently following his loan spell (h/t the Guardian).
There are indications Chelsea won’t honour their £25 million obligation to turn his loan from Man United into a permanent deal.
The Blues will pay a £5m penalty for the winger, who came off the bench to secure the Europa Conference League title with an excellent strike.
The news leaves Sancho in limbo about his future. It remains unclear where he will play next season, but he confirmed a return to United is not an option.
Read on as we look at three clubs that could sign Sancho this summer.
With Florian Wirtz likely on his way to Liverpool in a high-profile move, Leverkusen are in the market for an attacking replacement. Sancho fits the bill.
He lit up German football during his time at Borussia Dortmund, bagging 40 goals and 54 assists in 118 appearances. A return could help him rediscover his best form.
Fenerbahce are also in the running. Manager Jose Mourinho has given the green light for a move to bring Sancho to Istanbul.
Fenerbahce are looking to bolster their squad after failing to dethrone Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Lig.
Mourinho is expected to lead a busy summer overhaul, and Sancho is high on his wishlist. However, Sancho may not consider a move outside the top five leagues in Europe.
RB Leipzig could be another viable destination. With Xavi Simons expected to depart, Leipzig want a replacement to keep their attack ticking.
Sancho’s creativity and experience in the Bundesliga make him a natural fit for them.
Leipzig missed out on Champions League football and need reinforcements to bounce back. He could be a statement signing.
