Jadon Sancho says he won’t be returning to Manchester United when his loan spell with Chelsea ends.

The winger was seen speaking to someone on his phone after the Uefa Conference League final on Wednesday and, according to BBC Sport, said “No, I’m not coming back to Manchester United“.

Sancho came off the bench in the second half against Real Betis, scoring the Blues’ third goal in a 4-1 comeback victory in Wroclaw.

The 25-year-old joined Chelsea on a season-long loan last summer. The deal included a £25 million option to buy, but it’s been reported that the club are considering paying a £5m penalty to get out of signing the player on a permanent basis.

Ahead of the final, Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca said a final decision had not yet been made, but confirmed that talks would commence in the following days.

“It’s not the moment we have tomorrow, final,” the Italian said in his pre-match press conference. “Then in 24 hours, 48 hours, we’re going to start to talk about the future.”

Maresca maintained that was the case when asked about Sancho’s situation again after the game, and praised his contribution to Chelsea’s campaign.

“I said yesterday in the press conference,” he told TNT Sports. “From now on we are going to sit with the club and decide what happens for next year.

“If we finish fourth it is also because of Jadon, if we win tonight it is also because of Jadon. It is normal in a season to go a little bit up and down, it is part of the game.”
