Manchester City and Manchester United have confirmed their starting lineups ahead of today’s Manchester derby. The clash at the Etihad Stadium is looming as a pivotal win in Manchester City’s season. If they can beat their arch rivals it could kickstart their season. But a loss would extend City’s barren run of one win in their past ten games. There is always plenty at stake in a derby but today’s does loom as a pivotal fixture in City’s season.
Manchester City will enter today’s match with a host of players unavailable. Rodri and Oscar Bobb are out with long-term injuries. Manuel Akanji, John Stones and Nathan Ake are all out due to injury. Rico Lewis will miss today’s match due to suspension. Pep Guardiola’s side will enter today’s match with their defensive stocks severely depleted. But that is just another challenge for the world champions to overcome.
Here are the starting lineups hard of today’s Manchester derby.
Pep Guardiola has made two changes to the starting lineup from City’s 2-nil defeat to Juventus. In comes Phil Foden and Matheus. Out goes Rico Lewis and Jack Grealish.
The big surprise was seeing John Stones named as a substitute.
