Sky Germany have now put out their latest updates on Chelsea’s attempts to sign Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig this window.
This one has well and truly turned into one of those transfer sagas that just annoy the fans more than anything.
It was hyped up a few weeks ago and we all believed it was close, but then it just fell off and went very quiet as seemingly Chelsea await player sales before they can sign in any more new players of their own.
We haven’t had many fresh updates on this one in the last few days but Fabrizio Romano did ensure that Chelsea are still in talks to sign Simons but as he’s said all along, the club need to make some sales first as well.
Romano has also put out more info on it last night when he told DAZN that he gives Simons to Chelsea an 85% chance of still happening this window, which is very positive I guess.

Despite all of that, nothing seems close yet for Simons to join Chelsea, because he is set to play for Leipzig this week.
Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany posted on X last night:
“Unless something unexpected happens, the current plan for Xavi Simons is for him to start for RB Leipzig against FC Bayern in the Bundesliga opener on Friday.
“After that, the move to Chelsea is set to be completed. The chances of the Chelsea transfer going through remain very high. Xavi only wants CFC. Personal terms are 100% agreed. RB still waiting for an official offer.”
Imagine if this doesn’t go through now after all this? I think it will, I expect it to happen now.
