Both Blackburn Rovers and Birmingham City are on the hunt for their first league wins of the season this Saturday when they go head-to-head at Ewood Park.

Birmingham were pegged back late at home on opening night against recently relegated Ipswich Town, whilst Rovers fell to a 1-0 defeat against Ryan Mason's West Bromwich Albion.

Ahead of tomorrow's match, both Valerien Ismael and Chris Davies have given their assessments on their squads, and have outlined who won't be available for selection, or who may be a doubt for the game.

Here are the six players, three from each side, who we may see out of the game this Saturday.

Hayden Carter - OUT

Starting with who will definitely miss the game for the home side this weekend.

Ismael was happy to announce that Todd Cantwell will be fully available after making his season debut in midweek during Blackburn's EFL Cup first round defeat against Bradford City.

However, the same cannot be said for Hayden Carter, who remains out of the side, despite returning to training for the first time this week.

Carter missed virtually all of pre-season after suffering a hamstring injury in an early pre-season win over Accrington Stanley, and despite being fully fit, he is said to still need time to get back to his level.

Adam Forshaw - OUT

Adam Forshaw has been released by Leeds but could find a home down south at Norwich City

Adam Forshaw is the other Blackburn man confirmed to be absent from the side this Saturday against Birmingham.

Forshaw was a reliable option for Ismael in the middle of the park last season after he arrived in January on a short-term deal, and did enough throughout the second half of last season to earn himself a new deal for this term.

However, the 33-year-old is also said to be suffering from a hamstring issue and will be unable to make his first appearance of the season this weekend.

Lewis Travis - DOUBT

The future of Blackburn captain Lewis Travis is up in the air, and little was clarified this afternoon, as the club banned any questions regarding his potential move on.

The 27-year-old is most likely fit to play, but whether he will is a completely different proposition.

Marvin Ducksch - OUT

The only confirmed absentee from Chris Davies this afternoon is their new striker signing, Marvin Ducksch.

The 31-year-old arrived from Werder Bremen after four years at the club, which included three in the Bundesliga. However, he joined the club with a fitness issue he sustained in the summer, and Birmingham Live reports that he has been training alone.

However, he is reported to be almost ready to join full contact first-team training, so it won't be long until we see Ducksch out on the grass in the Championship.

The German has a record of 62 goal contributions in 130 Bundesliga games, so when he does make that long-anticipated debut, the expectations for him to hit the ground running will be high.

Kanya Fujimoto - DOUBT

Attacking midfielder Kanya Fujimoto is yet to make his first-team debut since his arrival from Gil Vicente, but the 26-year-old did make the bench in the Blues' Carabao Cup victory over Sheffield United in midweek.

Fujimoto, like Ducksch, picked up an injury issue in pre-season and has spent some time in the under-21s in the past few weeks.

Davies believes that he "isn't too far" away from returning to the senior fold full-time, but we'll see if that date comes this coming Saturday at Ewood Park.

Demarai Gray - DOUBT

Demarai Gray's return to Birmingham this season has so far been a success, starting both of their competitive games and excelling, especially against Sheffield United, where he picked up an assist.

However, the 29-year-old didn't return for the second half against the Blades, with Davies confirming that there was a minor issue which caused his withdrawal.

The Birmingham boss stated that he will "have to see" how Gray is doing ahead of this weekend's battle at Ewood Park, but as it stands, the exciting winger is a doubt.
