Lehmann has played just nine minutes for Switzerland at Euro 2025, after pre-tournament doubts over whether she would make the 23-player squad at all.

The Juventus and former Aston Villa player is one of the famous names in women’s football.

She is the most-followed female player on the planet, with 17 million followers on social media platform Instagram.

Given her public profile and social media following, Switzerland have deployed additional protection for the 26-year-old.

Why Alisha Lehmann has additional security at Women’s Euro 2025

The team press officer of Switzerland at Euro 2025 has admitted that specific precautions are in place for Alisha Lehmann.

The Euro 2025 hosts have reached the knockout phase of an international women’s tournament for the first time in their history.

Lehmann has been given added protection as interest in her and the host nation is ramped up higher by their progression from the group stage.

‘We always ensure that the safety of the players is our top priority in all stadiums,’ Sven Micosse, press spokesperson for the Swiss women’s national team, told Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet.

“This is organized by UEFA during the tournament, and our head of security is always on site.

“After the matches, he is always there when the players approach the fans, and due to Alisha Lehmann’s fame, he sometimes accompanies them a little further.”

German publication BILD have reported that a ‘man in a suit’ is often near Lehmann to focus on her safety as the head of security for the Swiss national team.

He often is seen with her as fans hunt for photos and autographs after training and at games.

Lehmann has been giving her followers a behind-the-scenes look into life at the Euros with pictures on her social media channels.

The 26-year-old also defended her team after they lost 7-1 to a boys U15’s side before the tournament.

Switzerland though have shown their credentials at Euro 2025 by making it out of Group A.

What are Switzerland’s chances of beating Spain at Euro 2025?

Switzerland have been given little hope to reach the semi-finals of their home Euros, as they prepare for a clash with tournament favourites Spain in the last-eight.

According to the UK’s best betting websites, Switzerland are 18/1 to pull off what would be the upset of the tournament and eliminate Spain in regular time.

Spain are 1/14 favourites, while a draw which would see the game go to extra time and potentially penalties is 15/2.

Switzerland have the longest odds out of any team left in the tournament to win Euro 2025, at odds of 100/1.
