The 2024/25 SAFA ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs have descended into pandemonium, with a severe water shortage at Giant Stadium forcing yet another shocking postponement—adding another layer of drama to an already turbulent tournament.

The Match That Never Was

Today’s highly anticipated clash between Mpumalanga’s The Bees FC and Western Cape’s Zizwe United was abruptly called off just as both teams were preparing for kickoff. The reason? The local municipality declared Giant Stadium a health hazard due to the crippling water crisis in the region.

But the chaos didn’t stop there.

Pitch Invasion & Protest

In a bizarre twist, Kakamas Juventus—already eliminated from contention—stormed the pitch at Soshanguve Giant Stadium, defying security and warming up in protest. The Northern Cape side, backed by SAFA Northern Cape officials, demanded to play against a Limpopo representative, despite the province’s exclusion from the playoffs due to ongoing legal disputes.

Their standoff only ended when news broke that The Bees vs. Zizwe had been relocated to Lucas Moripe Stadium, now set for 10 AM on Friday, July 4.

  1. The Bees have already secured a semi-final spot after their 1-0 win over Midlands Wanderers (KZN).
  2. Zizwe United, however, must win or draw to keep their playoff dreams alive.

With Limpopo and Eastern Cape barred from competing and now a water crisis disrupting fixtures, the playoffs have become a battleground of protests, delays, and high-stakes drama.

Will SAFA regain control? Or will the chaos continue?
