Corinthians shake up medical team amid Melo uncertainty | OneFootball

Corinthians have made further changes to their medical staff, with physiotherapist Alex Cabrera leaving the club as part of ongoing restructuring, according to Globo. Cabrera was brought in at the start of Augusto Melo’s presidency in January 2024 and departs just six months into his tenure.

The decision is understood to be part of broader plans to overhaul the medical and physiotherapy departments. Earlier this year, Dr. Ana Carolina Côrte, who headed the club’s medical department, also exited Parque São Jorge, signifying a clear shift in the club’s approach behind the scenes. While Cabrera’s departure has been confirmed, the club has not yet indicated whether a replacement will be sought for his position.

Cabrera, who had a personal relationship with Augusto Melo—the recently suspended Corinthians president—was notably present alongside the first-team squad at the training ground. Melo’s own future at the club remains uncertain, with a key vote among club members scheduled for August to determine his political standing after his suspension by the Deliberative Council.

For now, Corinthians’ physiotherapy team consists of Amil Henrique, Camila Morano, Bruno Gorgatte, and Douglas Toffoli, who continue to handle the club’s day-to-day needs. The recent changes come at an important juncture for the team, as they prepare for a demanding set of fixtures both in the Brasileirão and the Copa do Brasil later this month.

The reshuffling takes place amid broader attempts by the current club administration to recalibrate both off-field and technical departments in response to a sluggish start to the campaign and heightened expectations leading into a decisive period in the season.
