Roma are reportedly set to renew winger Stephan El Shaarawy’s contract with official confirmation awaited in the next few days.

According to a report by Gianluca Di Marzio, Roma and Stephan El Shaarawy’s entourage have met in the last few hours to negotiate a contract renewal for the Italian winger.

The 30-year-old’s contract is set to expire at the end of this month and the player is keen to continue with the Giallorossi.

The parties are yet to reach a total agreement between them but optimism is high on either side that a favourable conclusion will be reached in the upcoming days.

El Shaarawy has been featured 231 times since joining Roma in 2016, scoring 58 goals. Il Faraone made 42 appearances last season across all competitions, netting nine goals and registering four assists.

No other club has shown interest in taking the winger from his current club’s hands as he remains committed to the development of the Italian capital side.
