Real Madrid president sends a message of support to talismanic forward | OneFootball

Vinicius Jr. has been far from his best for a long time now and Xabi Alonso’s decision to bench him for Real Madrid’s latest game against Real Oviedo served as a testament to how far he has fallen off.

From being a Ballon d’Or favourite exactly a year ago to now seemingly having his position as a starter under threat, the Brazilian star is not in a great situation sporting-wise.

Friction on the personal level, needless to say, has not helped his situation either with his contract renewal not going to plan, and most recently, racist slur against him once again surfacing in the team’s last game.

A message of support

As relayed by Defensa Central in a recent report, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has personally reached out to the Brazilian talisman with a message of support from the club administration and reiterating the faith they have in him.

Perez’s message was a clear signal to the player that the club will continue to extend their full support to him and denounce any racist chants or discrimination he is subjected to as long as he plays representing the crest in any stadium.

Further, he also expressed his support to Vinicius amidst the ongoing media campaign against him and the player thanked the leader for retaining faith in him.

Needless to say, he feels indebted to the club to give back his best and return to top form.

While form has been a matter of concern for the player in recent months, there is no reason to believe that he cannot recover his level, especially after he showcased his quality after coming off the bench vs Real Oviedo last weekend.

What will be a challenge, however, is that he must now compete directly with Rodrygo for a place on the left wing.
