Premier League CEO Richard Masters has revealed plans for Manchester City’s hearing into alleged breaches of 115 rules.

Manchester City were hit with over 100 charges for alleged financial breaches by the Premier League following a four-year investigation in February 2023, with alleged breaches having taken place over the course of nine years between 2009 and 2018.

If found guilty Manchester City face the prospect of relegation from the top-flight, with the charges relating to financial information, profitability and sustainability, player and manager remuneration, failure to cooperate and UEFA regulations.

Manchester City have strongly refuted the allegations, with an independent commission expected to hear the case towards the end of this year, with the potential for an outcome to be announced before the conclusion of the 2024/25 campaign.

Pep Guardiola’s side are currently bidding to win a fourth successive Premier League title, and would secure a sixth title of the Catalan’s reign with five wins from their five remaining matches.

The 53-year-old is currently out of contract at the end of next season, with the potential for the manager to have departed the Etihad Stadium prior to an announcement regarding the 115 alleged breaches.

Premier League CEO Richard Masters has provided a major update on the status of the case, telling a press conference of the European Leagues that “the hearing into Manchester City’s 115 charges will take place in the near future.”

“We can’t comment on the case, the date is set. The case will resolve itself at some point in the near future,” continued Masters.

Reports have previously suggested that an initial date for the hearing involving the Premier League and Manchester City in front of an independent commission has been pencilled in for Autumn 2024.
