A bit of a Carlsberg Sunday yesterday for me, on and off the pitch. Three great points to start the defence of our title in the late afternoon, with the late winning goal sending us home in good fettle. The morning hadn’t been too shabby either.
I’ve only just finished processing the latest batch of pre-orders on the Celtic Star Bookstore for the late and much-missed David Potter’s final book, telling the story of Celtic in the Eighties. A real labour of love that was.
Celtic in the Eighties by David Potter, pre-order now
The orders started flooding in late yesterday morning, following a communication from our team offering our previous customers the opportunity to receive a copy of the book signed by the one and only Danny McGrain PLUS a complimentary copy of David’s biography of another wonderful Celtic full-back, Alec McNair – Celtic’s Icicle (whilst stocks last!).
Alec McNair – Celtic’s Icicle, is now available FREE when ordering David Potter’s last book Celtic in the Eighties.
Whilst we expected that offer to be popular, the response has been something else.
I’ve only just completed logging the orders, having taken a break to go to the match then again late last night to watch the re-run! Apologies for the delay in replying to the individual emails. I’ll get on the case now. It’s lovely to hear from so many old friends and pretty special to read the comments, a sample of which are reproduced below.

Celtic supporters never cease to surprise you, but this response to David’s book is off the scale.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for this incredible display of support and love for such a lovely man and his work, although David is more likely to describe that as his passion.
A support like no other indeed. Here are just some of the comments.
“Have ordered within one minute of email…hope I have a signed copy!!”

“Thanks so much. Book now ordered! So sorry to hear about David. My time watching Celtic was the 70’s/80’s and I have some great memories. So many great players not least Danny, truly world class. Always remember how he and Kenny linked up down the right.”
“The deed has been done! Book ordered. Danny was one of my particular heroes so it will be special to have him sign it.”
“Ordered immediately, 80s were definitely one of my favourite decades. Rarely missed a game then.”

“I have just pre-ordered my copy. I grew up watching Danny and he is my greatest all-time Celtic player, even though wee Jinky was voted for by the Celtic support. Danny epitomised everything that made him a Celtic great in my eyes. At the height of his career, he was regarded as the best right-back in the world, that’s how good the man was. He is still a great Celtic man to this day.”
“Thank you very much. Daniel Fergus. My all-time favourite.”
“Brilliant that Danny will be signing my book!”

“I’m well looking forward to the Celtic in the ‘80s book. It was my time, really. I started going in Kenny’s last season and by the time the ‘80s came around, when I was 10/11, I was totally committed to our cause. I remember that decade so vividly, the highs and lows. Can’t wait to get stuck into it.”
Hail, Hail!
