Milan President Paolo Scaroni has admitted that he is ‘not satisfied’ with the team’s sporting results in 2024-25, and insists that being involved in tournaments like the Champions League and Club World Cup is the ‘minimum’ expectation for the Rossoneri.
It has been a tough season for Milan in terms of results on the pitch. Despite winning the Supercoppa Italiana in Sergio Conceicao’s second game in charge, the team currently sit in ninth place in the Serie A standings and were knocked out of the Champions League by a depleted, underdog Feyenoord side earlier in the year.
The Rossoneri are nine points away from the Champions League positions, and need to overtake five teams before the end of the 2024-25 season if they are to qualify for next year’s tournament, which is increasingly difficult with each passing game.

Speaking in an in-depth interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, published on Saturday, Scaroni outlined the minimum expectations for the team moving forwards.
“There is no doubt that the international sphere, I’m talking about the Champions League, Club World Cup and other cups, is the least that Milan can be satisfied with,” Scaroni told Gazzetta.
“And I have to say that if we’re looking to the future, there will be greater attention paid to international competitions in 20 years’ time, it’s inevitable. It’s a phenomenon that involves every sport. But that does not mean that we won’t aim to win Scudetti, quite the opposite.”

Scaroni went on to clarify that results on the pitch have not lived up to the required standards so far this season.
“As I’ve said before, we are not satisfied with the sporting results. We have been very active on the transfer market, nobody has signed as many players as we have, now we want to strengthen ourselves in management positions as well.”
He did go on to give a few examples of the positives he has seen from the Rossoneri team so far in 2025: “I saw a gritty team in the Coppa Italia, which our fans like. I believe that that grit is one of the biggest things our coach has instilled in this team. Our ability to fight back from being behind also proves that.”
