Geoffrey Moncada implied that Theo Hernandez could still renew his Milan contract and commented on a few more topics and prospective deals talking to DAZN before the Atalanta clash (via Calciomercato).
The director is pleased with how the team has fared following a tactical change.
“I liked a lot how we played against Udinese. Sergio Conceiçao has worked on 3-4-3 for a month. We have the pieces to pull it off: Strahinja Pavlovic, two offensive-minded fullbacks, Youssouf Fofana, who patrols the midfield, Kyle Walker, who can star as a right ‘braccetto,’ and so on.”
Moncada was quizzed about the stalling negotiation between Milan and Theo Hernandez.
“I like him a lot. We’re talking and working. We’re not that far off. I hope this formation will make him even stronger.”
The exec also dished on Tammy Abraham and Alexis Saelemaekers. The Rossoneri and Roma will have to haggle again following their loan spells.
“I’m happy for the latter. I’ve known him since his Anderlecht days, where he played in that position. Our tactic would fit him well. They were two different deals, and that’s how we have to see them.”
The official praised Luka Jovic, who drew two starts in a row.
“He can hold onto the ball and interplay with his teammates. He’s not a pure no.9 and opens up room for Christian Pulisic and Rafael Leao. We have many options, considering also Abraham, Santiago Gimenez, and Francesco Camarda.”
Instead, Moncada wasn’t asked about the ongoing search for a new director, as Milan pumped the brakes on Igli Tare to keep working on Tony D’Amico, who’s under contract with Atalanta for two more years, Sky relays.
