Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis stormed onto the pitch following their draw against Leicester City on Sunday to give manager Nuno Espirito Santo an earful.
Forest have dropped from second to sixth after recent poor results, and Marinakis is seemingly unhappy about it.
The stalemate against the already-relegated Foxes leaves the Tricky Trees trailing other Premier League clubs in the race for Champions League football.
Marinakis took to the pitch and gave manager Nuno Espirito Santo a dressing down while the coach tried to congratulate the opposition and console his downcast players.
The scenes were ugly for Forest, with Marinakis throwing his arms in irritation and seemingly berating his manager.
Gary Neville called Marinakis’ actions scandalous. The Portuguese tactician defended his boss in the aftermath.
However, Marinakis showed no remorse, releasing a statement that claimed he was frustrated because Taiwo Awoniyi pulled up. They had to play the final minutes without him.
Marinakis blaming an injury for an emotional meltdown is deflection. What Forest need right now is leadership, not tantrums from their eccentric Greek chairman.
The public humiliation of his manager sends a terrible message to players and fans. It reeks of entitlement, not ambition.
Forest avoided relegation last season, and Marinakis would have never expected to see them competing at the top end of the table this term.
They have consistently punched above their weight this season, especially when they sat in second place.
Instead of fostering unity during a challenging spell, the Olympiacos owner has sown discord at the worst possible time.
If Forest are to salvage their top-five dream, the owner must step back, show restraint and allow football people to do their jobs.
