The need for Manchester City to reinforce Pep Guardiola’s squad is obvious to see. One player who has been heavily linked with a move to the world champions is Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush. It has appeared that a deal that Manchester City’s move for the Egyptian international was on the verge of being completed. But now a new report indicates that City’s move for Marmoush has hit a snag. The Athletic has reported that City have seen a bid rejected for Marmoush.
Sam Lee and Sebastian Stafford-Bloor have reported for the Athletic that Manchester City have seen a bid rejected for Omar Marmoush. Their report indicates that City’s bid was considered too low by Eintracht Frankfurt. Furthermore, the Athletic further reports that the expectation is that an agreement will be reached between the two parties. Lastly, the Athletic report that Marmoush will likely play for Eintracht Frankfurt against Borussia Dortmund on Friday as negotiations continue between City and Eintracht.
Florian Plettenberg has reported via X that Eintracht Frankfurt is demanding €80 million to sell Marmoush this month. Furthermore, Plettenberg reports that negotiations between the two parties are expected to continue on Thursday.
There was always the potential that Manchester City’s move for Omar Marmoush could drag on. Given the importance of Marmoush to Eintracht Frankfurt and their push to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League, they were always going to play hardball in negotiations with Manchester City. It is now on the City hierarchy to satisfy their demands to sell the Egyptian international.
Based on the Athletic and Florian Plettenberg’s reports it is expected that a deal will be completed that will see Marmoush land at the Etihad. It is just going to be a lengthy process before a deal is agreed based on tonight’s reports. That is part and parcel of transfer negotiations. So while City’s move for Marmoush appears to have hit a snag it does seem it should be resolved in the near future.
