Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City side are just four consecutive wins away from a fourth successive Premier League title, with Wolves being the first of those contests.

Gary O’Neil’s side will travel to the Etihad Stadium without their head coach’s availability in the dugout this weekend, following confirmation of a one-match Football Association touchline ban earlier this week.

And Manchester City come into the clash fresh off the back of much-needed time off and in a rich vein of form too, having not been beaten in any competition since mid-December, in a run spanning over 30 matches.

That run of form has now put Manchester City’s players in an excellent position for the final five games of the season, knowing that they have a chance to make further history in a number of senses through silverware.

City could not only become the first side in Premier League history to win the league four seasons in a row, but also become the first side to retain a domestic double of the English top-flight crown and the FA Cup trophy.

As for Wolves, the Molineux club will be hoping for a top-half finish in this season’s Premier League under Gary O’Neil, currently lying in 11th position with just one win in their last five matches in the division.

Manchester City against Wolverhampton Wanderers will take place at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday 4 May with kick-off scheduled for 17:30 (UK).

Early team news

Manchester City are expected to have a fully-fit squad at the disposal of Pep Guardiola on Saturday evening, with the manager confirming the latest updates during his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon.

Ederson has avoided any serious damage following a collision with Nottingham Forest’s Willy Boly at the City Ground last Sunday, despite leaving the contest with his arm and shoulder aided by a sling.

Two other absentees from that contest in Phil Foden and Ruben Dias “feel good” and are ready to return for City having trained this week, whilst Erling Haaland is ready for his first start since the UEFA Champions League encounter with Real Madrid at the Etihad Stadium.

Over on the side of Wolves and Gary O’Neil confirmed in his pre-match press conference that a trio of Pedro Neto, Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, and Santiago Bueno are all back in training and could enter the fold this weekend.

Noha Lemina is close to a return to training too, whilst Craig Dawson is still out and the rest ‘still have a little bit to do.’ The rest is likely to concern Leon Chiwone and Rayan Ait-Nouri.

The last meeting between these two sides came in the Premier League earlier this season, with Manchester City losing the tie at Molineux despite drawing the game level through a sumptuous Julian Alvarez strike.

Hwang Hee-chan would score the winning goal on an afternoon that not only saw Rodri miss out through suspension, but also Matheus Nunes endure a rather unsavoury reception upon his first return to Molineux after leaving the club for the Etihad Stadium.

The last meeting between these two sides at the Etihad Stadium came in January 2023, with Manchester City in the midst of a fierce Treble charge and Erling Haaland scoring a hat-trick in the space of 14 total match minutes.
