According to an update from Christian Blasco in SPORT, Bayer Leverkusen have made it clear that if they lose their star midfielder, Florian Wirtz, they would rather see him move to Real Madrid or Barcelona than to their direct Bundesliga rivals, Bayern Munich.
The situation surrounding Wirtz’s future has become a long-running story, with rumours about the midfielder circulating for months.
As one of the most sought-after young footballers in Europe, Wirtz continues to attract attention from top clubs, but the outcome of his transfer is far from certain.
Recent reports from Germany indicated that Wirtz was leaning towards staying in his homeland, with even the possibility of extending his contract with Bayer Leverkusen on the table.

For now, Leverkusen remain cautious about the midfielder’s future, particularly when it comes to whether he will sign a new contract with the club.
One thing they are adamant about, though, is preventing Wirtz from joining Bayern Munich. The club is determined not to strengthen one of their biggest competitors in the Bundesliga.
For Real Madrid, Wirtz has been on their radar for a long time. Previous reports suggest that the Spanish giants see him as an ideal replacement for Luka Modric, who has been a pivotal figure for them over the years.
Wirtz is currently under contract with Bayer Leverkusen until 2027, and the club has no intention of letting him go for less than €150 million. However, given the competition, it is believed that offers of at least €100 million would be considered.
Real Madrid know they are up against stiff competition in the race for Wirtz, but they are willing to play the waiting game, confident that time may work in their favour.
As the saga continues to unfold, both Real Madrid and Barcelona remain in the running for one of Europe’s brightest talents.
