Leicester expert believes these star players will leave soon

Ruud van Nistelrooy will lead Leicester into the EFL Championship in a season that will herald a rebuild, promotions of youth talent, a mass exodus of talent, and a mixture of emotions from disappointed and angry supporters. The Foxes will need to do a lot of work in the transfer market to recover from these losses.

We have given our opinion on both matters previously. We have mentioned that Leicester have to sell or release several players (Danny Ward and Daniel Iversen amongst them) to make spaces for new players and youth promotions. We have also noted which players the King Power side ought to keep during that Championship campaign. However, an expert on the club may have different information.

Leicester City expert expects two exits

Nick Mashiter responding to comments on behalf of BBC Sport has mentioned at least two players who are likely to leave, and one with a high chance. Now, I would say more are likely to leave, but the two mentioned by Mashiter are Wilfred Ndidi and Mads Hermansen.

The Danish goalkeeper will have massive interest from clubs in the Premier League - especially those that get promoted from the division below - as the Foxes’ goalkeeper has been one of the bright highlights of this Premier League season. Being within the 97th percentile for the quality of shots faced against him thanks to poor performances, only attaining a 7th percentile save percentage does not indicate the quality Hermansen has offered.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian midfielder’s quality is obviously much higher than the Championship. The player has been another standout before getting injured, creating a plethora of chances for his team and disrupting opposition plays almost alone. The price on their head has declined massively as the player gets older, and as the King Power Club will clearly be in need of sales to avoid any major PSR retaliations from the football league.

Mashiter also believes players such as Kasey McAteer will also be of interest to other clubs in the Championship. There might be some movement on this front. With Leicester City unlikely to allow Stephy Mavididi or Abdul Fatawu to leave, with the requirement of having actual talent in the club. Therefore, players like McAteer who do not get much game time, may look to leave and Nistelrooy may be happy to cash in.

In lieu of these likely exits, Leicester City need to look at their youth side and promote those who are out on loan. Giving them their breakout season in the Championship will up their values, develop them better, and means the Foxes do not need to spend aggressively to create a full team.

From Jake Evans and Jeremy Monga - the starlets - to Wanya Marcal-Madivadua and Will Alves, the King Power side have plenty of great talents across defence (Tom Wilson-Brown or Ben Nelson), midfield (Henry Cartwright or Sammy Braybrooke), and attack, the options for promotions are there. Jakub Stolarczyk is already here to replace Hermansen, and Ndidi can be replace by Braybrooke. If McAteer were to leave, Monga should definitely find his way into the senior side.
