While a lot was being made of the lack of the sponsor on Jeremy Monga's Leicester jersey, many also saw why the young midfielder was placed in that position. As a promising young player, he looks like a potentially exciting piece that City could build their future around.
In a season that hasn't given too much reason for anything resembling hope, the 15-year-old is provided a positive spark of excitement in what has been an otherwise dreadful campaign. Speaking with the media, Ruud van Nistelrooy updated fans on the status of Monga.
According to the LCFC boss, the teenager is dealing with an ankle injury that saw him miss the Brighton draw. He did, however, express optimism for Monga's availability moving forward. If not for the Liverpool fixture, then he should be able to return to the bench for the Wolves encounter.
After looking like he belonged against Newcastle at this level of play, fans will be eager to see him in a couple more matches this season before the Premier League wraps up. It's clear that the youngster has earned this opportunity. While not wanting to put too much pressure too soon on someone who hasn't even turned 16 yet, it's hard not to think about what him being brought up in the club and then taking over in a permanent starting role could mean for the Foxes.
Naturally, the immediate concern beyond his availability will be other clubs seeing the same potential that everyone else does. With Manchester City reportedly interested in Monga, this will likely be the first of many rumors surrounding the rising talent.
Especially with the number of issues that are prevalent in the club with relegation happening, players exiting will be a strong part of City's business for the present. While he isn't even in his 20s yet, Monga could be considered the most desired field player that others would even be interested in signing.
