For their part, the Nerazzurri will have representatives on both sides of the pitch. While Yann Sommer will be protecting Switzerland’s goal, Luciano Spalletti will reportedly select three Inter players.

The Azzurri coach confirmed the absence of Federico Dimarco yesterday. Nevertheless, his replacement at left-back could be yet another Nerazzurro.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, Matteo Darmian will start on the left side of a four-man defense.

Hence, the versatile veteran will join his club teammate Alessandro Bastoni who should recover from fever to make himself available for selection.

With Riccardo Calafiori serving a one-match ban, Gianluca Mancini is the main candidate to replace him, while Giovanni Di Lorenzo maintains his spot at right-back.

In the middle of the park, Inter superstar Nicolo Barella will have a major role to play in the German capital.

The Sardinian will line up alongside Bryan Cristante and Nicolo Fagioli who will reportedly replace Jorginho as a deep-lying playmaker.

Finally, in attack, Gianluca Scamacca will return to the starting lineup to spearhead the Azzurri’s charge.

The Atalanta star will be flanked by Juve’s Federico Chiesa and Roma’s Stephan El-Shaarawy. This would leave Lazio star Mattia Zaccagni on the bench despite his last-gasp heroics against Croatia.

Probable Italy (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Di Lorenzo, Mancini, Bastoni, Darmian; Cristante, Fagioli, Barella; Chiesa, Scamacca, El Shaarawy.
