Born in Ireland, Walsh is a product of the American system, having started out her senior career playing for Central Connecticut Blue Devils.

In 2015, she made the move to New England Mutiny, again in America, and continued to play across the pond until 2017.

After her time in the States, she returned to Ireland, joining UCD Waves in the top flight of Irish football. She captained them to a fourth placed finish, before moving to the side where she started out as a youth player, Peamont United.

In 2020, she helped Peamont to secure a league and cup double, which earned her a move to SWPL side Glasgow City. During her time at City, she was a part of their 2022/23 title-winning squad, and has made over 100 appearances for them.

Now, she joins Celtic with a lot of domestic and European experience, and Elena Sadiku will be hoping that Walsh will add more quality to her side.

No word on pre-season games yet, but Celtic’s first announced fixture will take place in the capital against Hearts on Sunday 17 August as Celtic FC Women look to regain the title lost last season after a pitiful second half of the season and the worst run of form that the team has endured since turning professional.

Claire Walsh is a decent signing, joining Lisa Robertson who returned to the club after a year at Hearts Women. The veteran midfielder has been handed a two year contract. More signings are obviously needed as the squad is eight players down on last season after ten players left since the season ended including many first team regulars.
