Ipswich Town are among a host of clubs who are keen on talented Motherwell midfielder Lennon Miller.

Ipswich Town are keen on Motherwell’s Lennon Miller, although they will have to see off competition from clubs across Europe to sign the midfielder.
The 18-year-old has emerged as one of the brightest talents in Scottish football, having played over 70 times for the Fir Park outfit, which includes making 32 Scottish Premiership appearances last season.
Miller scored twice and registered eight assists in the previous league campaign, and he impressed with his all-round game whilst also captaining the team, which highlights how he is viewed as a character at the club despite still being a teenager.
As you would expect, such form means Miller is a target for a host of clubs, particularly as he has entered the final 12 months of his contract with Motherwell, so a summer exit feels inevitable.
Glasgow giants Celtic and Rangers have been linked with the teenager in the past, with Strasbourg also known to be admirers in the £4.5m-rated youngster.
Most recently, however, it’s thought that Cesc Fàbregas wants to bring Miller to Como.
It had also been claimed Ipswich and Southampton were tracking Miller, and it would make sense from the perspective of the Tractor Boys.
Not only is the Scotland international a real talent, but midfield is an area of the pitch they need to strengthen, even with the likely arrival of Azor Matusiwa.
So, it would be a real coup for Ipswich if they could get it over the line, and when asked by FLW about the possibility of bringing the player to Portman Road, our Tractor Boys fan pundit Adam Wilkin explained how Miller’s range of qualities could make him the ideal fit for Kieran McKenna’s side.
“It’s very exciting to be linked with players like Miller. I think he is someone who is very highly-rated, and has already had an impressive career before the age of 18, with over 75 appearances for Motherwell.
“He ticks the box in terms of what Ipswich need from someone on the left side of that central midfield, or a slightly more attacking midfielder.
“He seems like a box-to-box, but he can play deep, he can play as an attacking midfielder, and his stats look very, very good. Miller was among the highest players for ball recoveries in Scotland. He can tackle, his passing numbers are good, so he has that all-round ability in what is a fairly strong Scottish Premier League.
“It’s hard to say how that compares to the English Championship, but I think he has got a lot of promise, and, at 18, you could see him as a valuable squad member, who could become a starter.
“McKenna has given young players the opportunity, like Delap and Hutchinson, although less so in midfield, where he goes for more senior pros. So, that’s potentially the only negative that might push him down in terms of our targets.
“But, if we were to bring him in, I think it would be a very, very good signing.”
Obviously, the clubs interested in Miller means that convincing him to come to Portman Road would be difficult for the recruitment team at Ipswich, but you would imagine their big play is that he would get minutes.
Even if Matusiwa signs, you could argue that Ipswich still need another two midfielders, as it’s such a critical position over the course of a demanding, challenging Championship campaign.
Despite his age, Miller has shown he can deal with the physicality of Scottish football, so you would expect him to cope with that side of things in England's second tier.
Then, in terms of his ability, he has so much talent, although like all young players, he still has areas he can improve, and McKenna’s background as a coach means he could be ideal at helping Miller fulfil that potential.
Ultimately, it’s a difficult deal to do, but it would be a real statement signing for Ipswich if they could win the race for Miller’s signature.
