Inter and Inzaghi surprised by Spalletti’s ultras claims | OneFootball

Italy coach Luciano Spalletti appeared to aim a dig at Inter boss Simone Inzaghi over a chat with an arrested Nerazzurri ultra in 2013 and according to Gazzetta, the Serie A giants and their coach are ‘surprised’ by the words from the Azzurri CT.

Inter directors are reportedly surprised that Italy CT Spalletti taunted their coach Inzaghi before a Nations League game against Belgium on Thursday.

Speaking to Rai Sport before the game, Spalletti shared his view on the recent Inter and Milan ultras arrests and an Inzaghi phone call with a fan later placed under custody.

“It never happened that someone called me for these matters; it’s a piece of news that surprised me because you don’t know how was the previous relationship,” Spalletti said.

“If someone calls you, you don’t know him, you never had anything to do with him, I think it’s difficult to exchange words.

“I answer to everyone, even to the numbers I don’t know, but I can also hang up then.”

Inter coach Inzaghi was heard by the Milan and anti-Mafia prosecutors earlier this week.

Wiretaps appear to prove that Inzaghi, who is not under investigation and was heard as an informed witness, had a conversation in 2023 with Marco Ferdico, a Nerazzurri ultra now under custody.

Ferdico urged Inzaghi to talk to Inter directors to make more Champions League Final tickets available for the Curva Nord, which they’d sold for higher prices.

According to the report, Inzaghi didn’t take Spalletti’s words well, and there wasn’t a phone call between the pair yesterday to clear the air.

Nevertheless, the Nerazzurri won’t react formally and will continue cooperating with authorities during the investigation.
