Former Blue Jason Cundy has admitted he’ll be “disappointed” if Noni Madueke leaves Chelsea for Arsenal this summer.

The Blues have been busy this summer and have already signed Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens and Joao Pedro, whilst they haven’t ruled out signing another attacker.

Chelsea face a critical window and are also said to be in the market for a defender as they look to strengthen Enzo Maresca’s squad.

Cundy will be disappointed if Madueke leaves

It’s not all about incomings, with outgoings equally as important, but perhaps surprisingly Madueke looks like he could be heading to the exit door.

Madueke has agreed personal terms with Arsenal, although the Gunners are yet to make an official offer to Chelsea.

Chelsea are believed to want £50m for Madueke, and Maresca has stated he only wants players who are happy to be at the club.

Madueke came on as a second half substitute on Tuesday as Chelsea made the Club World Cup final thanks to a 2-0 win against Fluminense.

The England international seems to divide opinion amongst Chelsea fans, but Cundy has admitted he’d be disappointed to see him leave.

“I’m a fan of Madueke,” he told talkSPORT.

“He gets a lot of stick from Chelsea fans. I know a lot of Arsenal fans aren’t particularly impressed with what they are signing.

“Here is what I will say. He’s a versatile player, and at the end of last season, Madueke was in Chelsea’s best XI.

“What he did was he moved from the right to the left, and he was as effective on the left.

“I like Madueke. I’ll be disappointed to see him leave because of his versatility from the right to the left. With Madueke, I’m disappointed to see him go. I know a lot of Chelsea fans won’t agree with me, but I like him.”

Nicolas Jackson could also leave

Madueke might not be the only forward to leave, with Nicolas Jackson also facing an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge.

Maresca opted to start Joao Pedro over Jackson with Liam Delap suspended, in what could be viewed as a telling decision.

Jackson is thought to have interest from Serie A, whilst clubs in Saudi Arabia are also keeping a watching eye, but it’s been reported the 24-year-old has no intention of leaving the Blues.
