It is not official yet, but Manchester United have secured the signing of Diego Leon, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Leon, who is on the books of Paraguayan club Cerro Porteno, can play as a left-back or left-wing-back.
Romano has reported on social media platform X that Leon will officially join United next summer.
The 17-year-old can move to the Premier League clubs after he turns 18 in April 2025.
Leon is one of numerous South American players who have been linked with clubs in the Premier League.
Here are five of the best talents in South America who could follow Leon to the Premier League in 2025.
Brazil have several young attacking players, including William Gomes, who could be destined for big things in the future.
The 18-year-old can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger. The teenager sees former Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur forward Lucas Moura as his role model.
Tottenham are among the clubs linked with Gomes. Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle United are also interested in the Sao Paulo winger.
He bagged four goals and an assist in 20 matches in all competitions last season.
Victor Reis is another young Brazilian player who has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent weeks.
The 18-year-old is one of the finest central defenders in his country and is on the books of Palmeiras.
Arsenal and United have scouted the teenager, while Real Madrid are also keen.
Reis, who has gone on record saying that he idolises Paris Saint-Germain central defender Marquinhos and Man United defensive midfielder Casemiro, scored two goals in 33 matches in all competitions for Palmeiras last season.
Argentina also boasts some tremendous talents, including Franco Mastantuono. The 17-year-old plays for River Plate, but he could move to Liverpool soon.
River’s youngest-ever goalscorer is one of the most promising midfielders in the Argentine league.
He has also been linked with Barcelona. Reis turns 18 in August 2025 and is one to watch out for next season.
Alisson Santana is one of the most dynamic young players in Brazilian football.
The 19-year-old is at Atletico Mineiro and can play as a winger or an attacking midfielder. He tallied three goals and one assist in 35 matches in all competitions last season.
Although Alisson can play wide on the right, he is better off as an attacking midfielder. He is strong on the ball and has pace.
Arsenal were linked earlier this year, while Everton made a bid for him last summer.
Internacional’s Ricardo Mathiasl is a gem of a player. The teenager scored six goals in 20 appearances last season.
Mathias is still raw and developing, but that has not stopped clubs such as Crystal Palace, Brentford and Bournemouth looking at him.
Internacional rate the youngster so highly that they recently gave him a long-term contract with a £54 million release clause.
