Trevoh Chalobah has spent the last 3 summer being shopped around by Chelsea, with the Blues never able to get a deal they liked for the academy defender.
Two years ago he picked up an injury which prevent him from moving on. He ended up returning to Mauricio Pochettino’s team mid-season and became their best defender for the conclusion of the campaign.
Even after that the club were keen to move him on, and it was only when they didn’t get any bids that matched their valuation that he was allowed to move to Crystal Palace on loan late in the window.

For a second season in a row he ended up coming back to play well for Chelsea in the second half of the season, and if you believe Football Insider’s report on the matter today, that has finally convinced those upstairs at the club that he’s worth keeping around.
“Chelsea want to sell other centre-backs over in demand star Trevoh Chalobah,” their piece reads.
It makes sense – Axel Disasi went out on loan just as Chalobah came back, and is surely up for sale. We can see them moving on Benoit Badiashile if a good offer comes in too. Aaron Anselmino will likely be loaned out.
With Levi Colwill and now Mamadou Sarr on the books, it then comes down to how much you trust Wesley Fofana’s fitness. If the Frenchman is going to play a lot next season, then having Tosin and Chalobah plus a new signing is a little excessive. We don’t need 6 senior centre backs.
But if you aren’t relying on Fofana, it makes a little more sense – Colwill and the new man as first choice pairing, Tosin and Chalobah as second choice, plus Fofana and Sarr as wildcards.
We’re glad the club has finally seen the light on Trevoh’s quality, a few years after the rest of us.
