Ex-Roma defender Loria on Gasperini: “He’s the right man, but needs time” | OneFootball

Following the appointment of Gian Piero Gasperini as Roma’s new head coach, fans and pundits alike continue to debate what kind of impact he will have on the team. Among those weighing in is former Roma defender Simone Loria.

Speaking to Sky Sport during the Illmia Padel Cup in Bologna—an event also attended by club legend Francesco Totti—Loria shared his thoughts on Gasperini’s arrival in the capital.

“I’m really intrigued by Gasperini’s project at Roma. It’s a major change,” admitted Loria.

“He’s become a top-level coach—what he achieved at Atalanta was remarkable. Roma is a demanding environment. The fans want real football, they want to be in the Champions League and fight for top positions.”

Adding, “I think he’s the right man, but it will take some time for the players to fully absorb his ideas.”

With Gasperini set to implement his aggressive, high-intensity tactical system, expectations are high — but as Loria notes, patience will be key as the new era begins at Trigoria.
