Beşiktaş are currently planning to sign Paul Onuachu from Southampton towards the end of this week, so very late in the January transfer window.

Paul Onuachu has been a Southampton player since 2023, however, it hasn't gone to plan ever since he was signed from Genk. Last season, while the Saints were in the Championship, Tall Paul was sent out on loan to Trabzonspor.

In truth, the Nigerian striker probably wishes he was still out on loan. In Turkey, he is held in high regard - At least much higher than he is held at Southampton. Despite scoring his first Premier League goal for Southampton recently, it doesn't look like he has a bright future at St Marys.

And, with the Saints likely to be relegated back to the Championship next season, it might be best for Onuachu to consider leaving the club, this time on a more permanent basis than his previous exit.

According to a report from Fanatik, Beşiktaş are eager to sit down with Southampton officials at the end of this week to discuss the potential of signing Paul Onuachu. It comes after the Saints striker has been linked consistently this month with a move back to Turkey.

Southampton fans will be delighted (eye-roll) to hear that Beşiktaş only want to sign Paul Onuachu on loan until the end of the season. However, they would also like to include an option to sign him permanently once his loan deal expires.

Unfortunately for Southampton, this might simply have to do. Another loan move really wouldn't benefit Paul Onuachu, however, if that is the best case scenario then so be it.

As it stands, Beşiktaş are sixth in the Süper Lig. They have won just one game of their last five in the league, so they could do with bringing in a new signing.

Beşiktaş have scored just 29 goals all season, they are looking for a player who can come in and bag many more goals before the season commences. After all, this record is not anywhere near good enough to be considered for the top four at the end of this campaign.
